Working primarily with hand-cut block prints, Caela Rae loves the physical and permanent nature of the format. Inspired by her many years as a professional tattoo artist, Caela loves the parallel between the two, like the consequences of even a small mistake and the bold longevity of the ink.
Working under the name “Megafauna Mama”, Caela’s art includes lots of the natural world, with beautiful scenes of wild plants and animals intertwined. Flowers, insects, shrubs, and animals abound, presented in her signature bold, high-contrast aesthetic.
Growing up in Indiana, Caela is inspired by the abundance of wilderness here in Alaska. She and her husband and their young son love to explore the lakes, trails, and mountains of the Last Frontier.
